In this set we had to match a location in Germany , where the interiors were in a state of extreme decay . On set we worked with multiple layers of plaster and crackled paint to imitate the textures on site.
The danish girl
On "The Danish Girl " we worked on location in Copenhagen and our task was to cover up any modern features to match the period setting in the 1920's . This included ageing props such as 600 fish boxes for the Harbour, and street furniture like old telephone booths and the plastic bollards as seen in the last picture textured to match the sandstone on location .

Melancholia was shot in Trollhättan studio in Sweden . We did woodgraining on plastic mouldings and put up exclusive wallpapers to create the sumptuos banquet hall for the wedding , as well as several suites and the library .
In Manderlay the concept of the production design was to convey a stage setting . For the set painting we researched the appearance of a plantation owners mansion and the miserable housing of the poor workers in the South . The main building was an 8 meter high plaster construction and we created a range of different textures to evoke the particular mood of decline and neglect .
In " Dogville" the stage was set in the United States in the depression of the 1930's . It consisted of fragments of poor houses and interiors from a small town lost in the Rocky Mountains . We painted a large street map on the stage floor and produced realistic textures for the set pieces . We also created a section of cliff face and an apple tree in four different seasons .
dancer in the dark
The prison of "Dancer in the dark" was constructed in the studio of Zentropa in Copenhagen . We had to reproduce realistic concrete textures and age doors and prison bars to create the effect of old painted metal .
